Week 8 Update

The end of another brilliant term is getting closer, only 3 weeks left and this includes the break for Easter.  We are very proud of the teaching and learning that has been happening across the school. Our teachers always strive to provide high-quality teaching that gives students the highest opportunity to grow.

It has also been exciting to connect with parents face to face as we have not been impacted by COVID so far this year. Over the past 3 years, this has had a significant impact and being able to return to a more traditional approach that enables face-to-face connection for all stakeholders has been greatly appreciated.

This was discussed at Governing Council meeting on Monday night and we are committed this year to increase parent engagement through school-based family events. We are in the process of planning further events similar to what we did in the past that enables families to connect through the school. One of these is the return of the LNPS Quiz Night in Term 3. Exciting times!

Student Ambassadors

Congratulations to the students announced as the 2023 LNPS Student Ambassadors. All students were required to complete an application to be considered for the roles. These students' applications stood out and met the application success criteria to a very high standard.   We are looking forward to working with these students throughout the year.

Learning Conferences

Thank you to all our families who attended Learning Conferences over the past two weeks. Initial feedback from students, families and staff have been very positive.

Reflecting, setting goals and identifying evidence to indicate growth is an essential process for students to improve. This approach is also identified as one of the 10 High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) that is vital for student success.

Well know educational researcher John Hattie, through his extensive meta-analysis of thousands of educational research findings states that "establishing challenging goals, rather than 'do your best' goals, is a more effective way of setting expectations for students. Difficult yet achievable goals have an energising effect which motivates students to strive to the highest levels". We are really looking forward to tracking student goals and seeing their growth over the remainder of Semester 1.

On Tuesday 28th March, we will be sending home hard copies of your child's Learning Conference  Booklet. This will enable families to refer back to goals and support learning at home.

In the coming days, we will also be seeking feedback from families so please look out for an email.

Finally, it was great to see so many students wearing orange yesterday and the highly engaging and relevant learning occurring in the classrooms throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who donated funds to support the charity 79 Exons. Greatly appreciated.
