What's happening in the Intervention Room?

Following the success of the Little Learners Love Literacy program in 2022 in the Intervention Team, CJC has implemented this structured literacy approach throughout Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms this year. This teaching method supports students to enhance their reading comprehension and fluency, as well as their ability to decode and encode. Our Prep students have thoroughly enjoyed meeting Milo Monkey and all his friends through reciting chants, completing craft activities and reading together as a class. Our intervention students have already shown great progress in their literacy skills through their participation in small-group sessions each week. The French Intervention program is excited to receive their new resources and look forward to using them in small-group sessions.

The EAL students have enjoyed practical activities such as making playdough and learning how to tie-dye t-shirts. Once we have carried out the activity we then spend time discussing the language used during the session and writing about what we have done. Pairing the hands-on activities with the written work reinforces the words that we have used and the learning that has taken place during the lesson! And we have had a lot of fun during these sessions too!
