Acting Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are fast approaching the end of Term 1.  Next week we commence our Holy Week liturgies.  Each class has been assigned a significant event in Holy Week to share with the school and community in the form of a school liturgy.

Next Wednesday the students in Year 3 will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  We keep these students and their families in our prayers.  The liturgy will take place in the School Hall and Tilley Garden commencing at 12.00noon.

St James Principal Appointment Process

Interviews for the Principal at St James Brighton were held last Wednesday.  Once final ratification from the Archbishop of Melbourne is received, communication regarding the outcome of this process will be provided to the community.  Please respect the confidentiality of the panel during this time.

School Closure Day

On Monday 27th March we have a pupil free day.  The staff will be onsite planning for Term 2.

St Patrick's Day

Last Friday we celebrated St Patrick's Day as part of Catholic Education Week. A group of Year 6 leaders accompanied by Mr Niarros, Mrs Herbert and myself as we made our way into St Patrick’s Cathedral for a school Mass attended by numerous primary and secondary Catholic Schools.  As part of the Mass there was a school banner parade.  Our student leaders joined the procession down the Church aisle.  Following the Mass we had a group photo with Archbishop Peter Commensoli, followed by a concert in the park.  It was a lovely day celebrating being a Catholic school.  I was so very proud of the way the students behaved throughout the Mass and whilst using public transport.

Back at school the students participated in a number of activities to celebrate the day.  One activity was to create Leprechaun traps.  I believe that the Leprechauns left some lovely treats behind for the students to enjoy.

St James School Vision and School Priorities.  (POST  REVIEW)  Last year the school participated in our school review.  Following the review we received a report including recommendations for forward planning.  We have met as a Leadership team and in consultation with staff and MACS consultants have set our new school priorities for continuous improvement for the next four years.  (Please see the attached information).
