1/2RT Class News - Reading

This week in 1/2 RT our whole class reading focus has been about identifying long and short vowels in words. We started by reading the book ‘Seven Seas of Fleas’ and then chose some words from the text to sort into long and short vowels. In small groups, students then had to identify whether the vowel in the word was long or short and place them onto the board. 

After the whole group activity, students then moved onto their differentaited reading groups. This consists of guided reading, word study, SMART Spelling practice and incorportaing the use of digital technologies into literacy using our chromebooks. At the end of the lesson, students shared some of their learning with the other groups.
