Specialist News PE& Sport

Mrs McLeary

PE Lessons are in full swing and it’s great to see the new students and especially the Preps, managing the routines really well. The P/1/2’s are working on the Fundamental Motor skills of Balance, Jump and throw. We are also focusing on how to play different types of games using good sportsmanship and safe behaviours, as well as learning to share and take turns fairly.

The Grade 3-6 students have completed their Tennis unit and have learnt strategies to help win points in a game and how to score and play Hot Shots Tennis matches. The Year 3/4s will now move onto Newcomb and Volleyball and the Year 5/6s will practise Softball and Newcomb ready for the Summer Gala which takes place in Week 10 of this term.

District Swim Trials

On Wednesday 15 February, Mr Ru and I took 9 students to Richmond Leisure Centre to compete in the Richmond District swim trials: Sophie, Andy, Rosie, Douglas, Tim, Chloe, Henryk, Cameron and Georgia.  It was a great competition and for some of our younger swimmers it was their first time in swim races. All the swimmers competed to the best of their ability and should be proud of their efforts.

Well done to Douglas who came 1st in Freestyle and Breaststroke and Henryk who came 2nd in Breaststroke. They will now go through to the Division round this week, good luck to you both.

Many thanks to all the parents who came to help and cheer us on for the day.

FIT Club

Thursdays 7.40am

FIT Club is now in full swing and ready for more active bodies. Trinity Fit Club is a Free Before School activity open to all Trinity students every Thursday at 7.40am on the Oval or in the MPR if the weather is bad. The children will take part in a range of fun activities to get them moving. Senior students from St Kevins College will join us most weeks to run some sport or exercises to help get the students ready for learning. Please come along and join us!

ALSO, have you seen our new Table Tennis Tables?

These were kindly donated to us by the students in Cusack House at St Kevin’s. These are the students who come and help us every Thursday at FIT Club as part of their school community service. The house raises funds each year and last year they very generously donated us their funds to buy these fantastic new tables.

Dr CRANKY’S BIKE HOSPITAL

Fridays 8.15am

Dr Cranky’s Bike Hospital is a charitable organisation that will recycle donated bikes and give them to children and families that need them at the school. It will also do minor repairs for those needing them.

The program will be run by volunteer parents and staff from Trinity with the help from Bart Sbeghen from Dr Cranky’s. So if you would like a bike or would like to volunteer or have something to donate, come along on Friday mornings before school. We will start our first session Friday 17th March.

Please come and see us!
