"The Mousetrap" is a murder mystery play written by Agatha Christie, which has become a classic of the genre. The play opened in London's West End in 1952 and has been continuously running ever since, making it the longest-running play in the history of British theatre.

The story is set in a guesthouse in the countryside, where a group of strangers are trapped due to a snowstorm. Soon, they discover that one of them is a murderer and that there may be more victims to come. As the snowstorm continues, the characters start to unravel the mystery and the murderer's identity, leading to a suspenseful and thrilling finale.

The play features a small cast of characters, each with their own secrets and motives, creating a web of suspicion and intrigue that keeps the audience guessing until the end. With its classic whodunit plot, the play has become a cultural phenomenon and a must-see for mystery fans around the world.

The students relished the experience of watching a live theatre production and actively engaged in solving the mystery of the murder. Their behaviour as audience members was exemplary, displaying respect and consideration for the performers and fellow audience members, a true testament to the values of Shelford.
