International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th every year to provide an opportunity for individuals and communities to come together and embrace equity, as well as celebrate the contributions of women in our society.
International Women’s Day highlights the importance of not only women uplifting and empowering each other, but everyone. It's about embracing equity, breaking down gender barriers, promoting gender equality and showing support for everyone.
Support can come in so many different forms. It can be as simple as a friendly ear to listen, or a kind word when we need it most. It can also be more active, like advocating for each other, creating opportunities for each other, and helping each other reach our goals.
When we support each other, we create a community of strong, empowered people who can conquer anything. We inspire each other, and we lift each other up. And together, we can create a world where everyone is valued and respected for all that we do.
We don’t have to agree on everything, but we should always treat each other with kindness and respect. Our message today is to embrace yourself and embrace others. Be proud of who you are and be accepting of others. Let’s make this world a more inclusive and accepting place.
This week, we were grateful to hear from Victoria Parker, CEO of The Lady Musgrave Trust at Assembly, and Sarah Newman, National Project Manager at REMONDIS Australia at the IWD breakfast. Both of these amazing and inspiring women shared with our community their journeys as women who have achieved great things in their field. Their advice on embracing equity, advocating for ourselves and others and building strength within a team were valuable lessons for us all to hear. We were lucky to have the opportunity to have a round table discussion with Victoria Parker after her speech to discuss how we can incorporate relationship awareness and individual resilience within our Care@Clayfield framework.
