SBATs (School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship)

One of the opportunities available for older students is the chance to enter into a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship. Several of our students have taken this opportunity, which allows them to stay at school, work for one day, and train in an area of their choice, either on site, or at TAFE or online.

  • Stephanie Skender in Year 12, is working in a childcare centre in Tuncurry and completing a Certificate 3 in Childcare.
  • Samantha Tobin, Year 11, who is completing a TAFE course, Certificate 3 in Fitness and working at Anytime Fitness,
  • Caleb Haynes, also in Year 11, who is working on Glenyarra Dairy at Killabakh , completing a Certificate 2 in Agriculture, and
  • Mollie Fitzgerald, Year 10, who signed up for a traineeship with Wayne Wilkes Racing. She will qualify with a Certificate 2 in Racing Stablehand.

These students are committed to learning their trade, working as required and completing their school studies to HSC standard. These students are amazing!

Martial Arts Training on site at TCC

Haddi Church and Cameron Drury (both in Year 9) have recently completed their yellow belt award with Mr Grant as part of their Global Language and Culture martial arts training. The award involves being able to write several Japanese letters, identify Asian landmarks, as well as show skill and aptitude in several basic martial arts moves. These are the first students from our College to complete this award and they are justifiably proud of their achievement. Thanks Mr Grant for bringing these cultural aspects of Japan to our College and involving our students as you have.

Call out - Supplies for Visual Arts needed

If you have newspapers, 4L ice cream containers (or equivalent) and cotton rags, Mrs Grimwood would be most grateful if you could send them in to the Front Office.

Thank you in advance!
