From the Principal's office

from Mr David Coleman

This week I visited Year 9 Mathematics who are about to commence a unit of work on applying mathematical concepts to design and create an object or item for the College. As part of this, they conduct an evaluation of the College’s existing grounds and structures and then identify a particular need. I gave them some suggestions and they are now going to conduct a site tour and determine a potential project. They will take measurements and build a model of their plan. In addition to this, I visited today Year 7 Science, along with a number of parents, for a  ‘Cellabration’. Students have been learning about different types of cells, culminating in the development of models of all they have learnt. There were guard cells, red blood cells, muscle cells and plant cells among others. It was very enjoyable to wonder around and chat with students about what they had made and learnt. Students were telling me that they were amazed by the complex and detailed structure of different cells, how they were comprised of even smaller components. It is indeed amazing what our God, the Creator, can do. His design is indeed complex and there is none like Him. The Bible tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.

This week we also hold our school ANZAC Service and we will have representation in the marches at Wingham, Taree and for the first time, Old Bar. We would love to see lots of students at the marches.

I wish all members of our College community safe and happy holidays.
