Classroom News - Year 5

                      Year 5 and Images of War PBL

Year 5 have been enjoying their online learning as Term 2 has started. Our PBL grid for Weeks 2 and 3 is called Images of War and is based on activities relating to World War 1, focusing on the book by Jackie French called The Beach They Called Gallipoli.  

On their PBL grid, there are a series of highlighted 'Must Do' activities and other activities that can be done after they have completed the 'Must Dos'. Their Creating task should be completed in Week 3 as Week 2 should mostly be spent completing their grid activities and building up their background knowledge.

We are doing daily Zooms with the students. If you could check that your child is attending that would be fantastic. We encourage them to come to the meetings with questions and to share with us some of their work.

                               Week 3 Attendance

In Week 3, students will be coming back 1 day per week. We look forward to seeing the students on their given day. The days they should attend is dependent on their House groups.  De La Salle will be attending Mondays, Delaney on Tuesdays, Merici on Wednesdays and Ursula on Thursdays. On the day students attend they are able to wear their school sports uniform and House shirt. The children of Essential Workers will continue to attend on the days that they have confirmed with Mrs McRae. We will continue to work on the PBL's when they return next week.

Thank you Year 5 parents for your amazing patience and stamina, and your invaluable assistance with the implementation of remote learning tasks.

We know it hasn't been easy and there have been many glitches, but the kids are doing remarkably well and most are submitting quality work.

We appreciate you very much and it has been lovely to have a quick chat, or wave, during Zoom meetings and to receive positive feedback from many.
