Outside School Hours Care

Bookings Information
Casual Bookings/Cancellations/Adjustments please call 9592 0994 directly. email: melissa.asmar1@gmail.com
EMAIL NOT TO BE USED TO CHANGE DAILY ATTENDANCES
EMAIL TO BE USED for changing permanent bookings, making advanced bookings/cancellations (ie holiday program, school closure days), account queries, addressing special needs, incidents that need clarification, and the like. Emails are not checked prior to a session as administrative duties are addressed off site and away from the service as our priority lies with the active supervision of children, their development and wellbeing.
Having said all of the above, if children ever find themselves confused, not knowing where they're supposed to be, please have a "back up plan" by stating they can always go to after care and together we can resolve their situation. This is an important aspect of children’s “belonging, being and becoming” which involves them learning independence, coping skills and OSHC Educators available to children for support and to provide a secure base for children as needed. Child care subsidy-update
STEP 1.
Dear families
You need to do a Centrelink Child Care Subsidy Assessment now
You can do your assessment through myGov using your Centrelink online account. Or, through the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.
This is important, because if you don’t do your assessment, you may not receive any subsidy from 2 July.
Please do this as soon as possible. To find out more, visit education.gov.au/childcare or watch this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q6sTeqWkcY.
STEP 2.
The OSHC is currently migrating information and will soon create new enrolments to comply with the upcoming changes related to Child Care Subsidy.
Parents who have already registered on MyGov and are now trying to link their arrangement to St Finbar’s OSHC will find that as of yet the service has not established a regular usage for which you can log the days, times and fees. This will be finalised in the next couple of weeks and once established the OSHC will convey updated information via the newsletter; a display at the service and through the fortnightly emailed accounts.
PLEASE NOTE: Every family wishing to claim CCS must ensure they tick CASUAL SESSIONS as part of their CCS Reporting details. Families who don't tick this box, then use the service beyond their regular/normal usage will not have Child Care Subsidy apply to these extra days.
Step 3.
Fees: St Finbar’s OSHC
Initial Registration Fee $30; $15 for subsequent children (CCB not applicable to enrolment fee)
Please note that this is a once off fee.
Accounts now due and all overdue accounts
The OSHC accounts are now out and cover weeks 3 & 4 of Term 2. They are due within 7 days. Anything beyond that is overdue.
Please note that if you are experiencing any financial difficulties then please email Melissa and a meeting with Fr Ian Ranson will be organised.
Thank you in advance.
* Please note:
A payment was made on 13/3/2018 from the Bendigo bank, another 16/3/2018 with just a reference number, and one recently on the 14/5/2018 from Bendigo bank. Unfortunately our system does not recognise any of these payments as NO FAMILY nor CHILD”S NAME was placed in the reference area.
Please check your statements and should you find that your account has not reconciled then immediately email Melissa.
Programming-Multiculturalism and cooking
During OSHC discussions about multiculturalism, the topic of food often comes up. It suggests that food is a medium through which as a nation we can learn more about each other’s cultures, and promote racial harmony and understanding as a result.
During afternoon snack we celebrate diversity in the OSHC by incorporating/ trying different cultural foods. Most of the preparation is done in the morning where basic skills are honed. Children learn safety, to explore with their senses, are encouraged to develop an adventurous palate, boost confidence and learn about culture and customs.
During the year children have embraced the preparation and enjoyed many multicultural dishes such a sushi, pizza, fried rice, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, and tacos. Recently children tried Thai green chicken curry, and Guacamole (Aztec avocado dip).
Programming-Multiculturalism and “YogaFit”
Traditional yoga has its roots in the Hindu religion. Sonia has joined a growing trend, modifying traditional yoga, replacing many of the Hindu chants with music that reflects different themes. During last weeks yoga session, children began with a warm up of deep breathing and relaxing music which helped to mask exterior sounds of the other children playing and people talking outside. Sonia then moved to incorporate Arabic music, where children moved their bodies to improvise the distinct rhythmic modes of the Doumbek (Middle-Eastern Hand Drum). As the music changed to slow, it was time to cool down and do deep relaxing stretches and listen to others breathing patterns.
Thank you Sonia for infusing different cultural sounds into the OSHC as the children reacted very positively to the experience.
