VCE Art Exhibition

The annual VCE Arts Exhibition was held last week from 23 to 27 October with the official opening on the evening of 25 October 2017. The VCE centre transformed into an amazing gallery space showcasing works of Year 12 Media, Studio Arts, Visual Communication and Art and Year 11 Art, Studio Art and Visual Communication.

The large crowd of students, staff and parents thoroughly enjoyed viewing the finished products that the Year 11 and 12s have been working tirelessly on all year. The exhibition space was filled with wonderful works exhibiting a variety of intricate drawings, paintings, photographs, short films, fashion designs, sculptures, mix media, fabric applications, 3D works and visual communication designs.

Jessica Yan

"For this assessment task, we had to develop a creative one-point perspective street scene. My landscape drawing incorporates the use of rendering, light source, tone, blending and colour- contrast. I wanted to express world peace so I named my work ‘Castle in the sky’. The bridge with the Chinese national flag leads to an Australian castle, with trains travelling above the ocean. I have also depicted a rising sun to indicate a bright yet unknown future, with endless possibilities".

Artist of the Week

Congratulations to Mia Hannon  (9D) who has been selected as this week's KSC Artist of the Week. Mia was nominated by Visual Arts Teacher, Amy McLellan.

Her work is proudly on display in the administration foyer. If you teach Mia or see her around, please congratulate her on this skilful piece of artwork.  A certificate which will be presented to Mia at a year level assembly. Mia completed this photo as part of her photography assignment, class assessment task of “Unbelievable”.

Students in Year 9 Photography create a realistic 'Unbelievable' image using their own imagery, sourced imagery and their imagination. Understanding the complexity and range of tools available to them in Photoshop requires persistence and attention to detail. Mia Hannon has created a highly skilled response to the task, where the viewer is tricked to believe the 'Unbelievable'. As her teacher I was immediately impressed with the concept she developed and the high level digital skills she has displayed. Well done Mia.

Amy  McLellan

Please read what Mia has written to describe her art piece.

Mia Hannon 9D

"I created this collage for a photography assignment ‘Unbelievable’ .  We were required to take several photos ourselves and photoshop them into an unbelievable image. For my assignment, I tried to make it seem as though the real world had been swapped with the digital world. I utilised a range of tools and techniques such as shadow, lighting and cropping to try to make the image look as realistic as possible."
