Anna Berrell Performs Well at State Track and Field Competition 

Anna Berrell (Year 8) competed at the SSV State Track and Field Competition held at Lakeside Stadium on Monday 23rd of October. She qualified for the 14 Year Girls 1500m race after coming 2nd in this event at EMR on Friday 13th October. She was the sole representative from Koonung competing in this competition this year.

Anna's performance in coming 5th (out of 16 competitors) was a fabulous achievement - especially given that she does not have any formal training/coaching. Her mother Elena was in attendance to watch her run and was extremely proud of her effort.

Anna also excelled at State level on July 20th this year, competing at the SSV State Cross Country Competition (14 Year Girls 3 km event) at Bundoora Park. In what could only be described as arctic weather conditions, Anna courageously battled the elements to finish in 5th place (out of 87 competitors).

Koonung congratulates Anna for representing herself and our school with distinction in these elite competitions.

Koonung SC wins Whitehorse Sports School of the Year  2017

On October 25 Andrew Mangonis, along with Karen Rowe and Trevor vanden Driesen,  attended  the Whitehorse Sports  Awards 2017 and can proudly announce that Koonung SC was presented with the Whitehorse Sports School of the Year  2017.

This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the enormous commitment from Andrew and his team, as well as students, parents and other volunteers from our Koonung community who have supported our sports program this year.
