Darwinia House

I am very proud to be the new House Leader of Darwinia House from 2021. I have been warmly welcomed into the House and am looking forward to working with the Darwinia Leadership team to continue to build the House culture and House spirit. I would also like to warmly welcome Stephen Kennedy and Emina Z who have joined the House this year as Tutor teachers supporting students in the House and across the school.

The start of the year has seen students in Darwinia House settling into their studies eagerly and productively so far. There has been a strong and happy community feeling in the House, with our senior student leaders being elected in their new roles and students and teachers getting into the business of teaching and learning together.

Welcome to our Year 7s

Our new Year 7 students have made a smooth transition, with teachers enthusiastically reporting students being engaged in lessons. Year 7 Darwinia students participated in the Transition Program where they had the opportunity to meet their new teachers and classmates, discover the different areas of the school, having a bit of fun in a treasure hunt where they also found out lots of interesting facts about their new school.

Their week ended with an excursion to Lysterfield Park where students got to enjoy some time together as they began to make friends with their new peers. Our students reported the transition was a great week enjoyed by all.

Darwinia House Captains

We are very proud to announce Ana D and Bol T as the Darwinia House Captains. The election process involved writing applications, undertaking an interview, and giving speeches to all students across each year level in the House. The quality of the speeches was outstanding; all candidates are to be commended for their effort.

We congratulate Ana and Bol and are excited to have them as the Darwinia House Captains for 2021. 

SRC elections have also taken place. We were again very proud of the candidates and the effort they went to in their applications and speech writing. We are very excited to announce the following students as our elected SRC leaders for 2021.

Our newly elected SRC are passionate about representing their peers in Darwinia House, they are aiming to make a difference for Darwinia students this year and to represent them and would appreciate ideas and support from all students in the House.

The swimming sports have been put on hold at this stage due to the unexpected lockdown which has been disappointing, however we were very pleased with the number of students who signed up enthusiastically to represent the House on the day.

We look forward to upcoming events across the year for our students to have the chance to come together and represent the House. Our aim for the year is to have as many students involved in House events as possible to really show the Darwinia spirit is alive and strong!

The Darwinia House Leadership team, teaching and support staff would like to wish everyone a warm welcome and best wishes for the year ahead.
