Eucalyptus House
As I begin my sixth year as the Eucalyptus House Leader, I warmly welcome back members of the Dandenong High School community. Despite an unsettled start to the year, I have been impressed with the way we have conducted ourselves and the support we have shown each other during challenging times. The school is providing additional support to students across all year levels to ensure they are able to make up for the learning they may have missed last year. Therefore, student learning and achievement will continue to dominate the work of teachers in the House.
House Leadership Team
This year we welcome two new members to the Eucalyptus Leadership Team: Ms Elkington is our new Assistant House Leader and Ms Bickers joins Mr Fernando as our new Student Engagement Coordinator. The Leadership Team looks forward to working cohesively as a team to strengthen further, what has been achieved so far.
The following staff have also joined the House: Mr Gulzari, Mr Herd and Ms Ross. We hope their time in Eucalyptus House is a rewarding experience.
As a school community, we will strive towards achieving our School Improvement Goals of targeting student learning needs, building student agency and responsibility, increasing parent participation in their child’s learning and continuing our Senior Students improvement work. We will keep you informed of the progress we are making with our goals in future newsletters.
Our Student Leaders
Acknowledging student leadership is a tradition of the school and the leaders will be presented with their leadership badges in the coming weeks. I would like to congratulate our student leaders for 2021 and look forward to seeing how their leadership journey evolves over the year.

Meet our Student Leaders
Eucalyptus House Captain - Beatrice
To be a member of the leadership team of Eucalyptus this year, as one of the House Captains, is a very exciting and surreal feeling. I remember being a Year 7 student who used to observe the Seniors that were in leadership positions and admiring their courage. I remember watching their mannerisms in environments where they had to behave a particular way. Through my observation, I have understood that leadership is not about having the perfect candidate. A part of leadership is when a flawed individual has enough courage, patience, and strength to work through their flaws so that they can encourage others to do the same and guide them in a path of success. Now fast forward five years later, I am one of the House Captains of Eucalyptus. My goals for this year are to encourage the students of our House to be even more interactive with the leadership team of our House and to voice their opinions. I would also like to create more House spirit and increase student participation in House events.
Eucalyptus House Captain - Ali Akbar
To my own surprise, I am the House Captain of Eucalyptus for 2021. I feel like I have often represented Eucalyptus across the school in one way or another, so I am pleased to have this position. I aim to make changes so Eucalyptus can be a better house. Beatrice and I will be working hard this year for Eucalyptus students and for students across the school. I do not take this position lightly and I hope I can make a positive impact before I leave Dandenong High School. Thank you and I’ll be seeing you around.
Year 7 SRC - Alannah
This year, a massive goal for me is to make Eucalyptus a safe place to learn, where all students feel calm and included. Another goal I would like to achieve is to be very dedicated to my work and doing my best at all times. Being the SRC rep is a privilege, as I will now be able to show who I really am as a leader. I also want to learn more about the type of learner I am capable of being! Thank you everyone for taking the time to recognise me as your Year 7 SRC!
Year 8 SRC - Hadi
I would like to begin by thanking my peers who saw me as capable for the SRC role. My goal as an SRC Leader is to make learning fun and exciting for my peers. As an SRC Leader, I believe it is my responsibility to make sure everyone feels welcome. I look forward to an amazing year.
Year 9 SRC - Karen
Hello! I would like to start with how grateful I am to be representing my class this year. I was actually extremely nervous to give my speech, regardless of how bubbly I can be. My main goal last year was to be more confident and to start speaking to the class more and sadly, I didn’t achieve that goal as much as I would have liked. Therefore, I decided to try out for SRC this year. I aim to ask the class at least once a fortnight if they want to add any new changes to the school, like clubs, as well as reminding everyone what clubs and events we have coming up. I also want to help out with fundraising and charity events. I will always be willing to listen, so if anyone needs help or support, please let me know.
Year 10 SRC - Ali
I look forward to working with the teachers, students and SRC members to create a better learning environment for all at Dandenong High School. I am excited to collaborate with SRC members to help the students with their issues, to achieve their goals and to find their passion
Year 11 SRC - Fatemeh
I am more than grateful to have the chance to be the Year 11 Eucalyptus SRC Leader. To have a chance to represent my classmates is a big job and opportunity that I have taken and I promise to take it seriously. My goals are to make sure all my classmates are comfortable with their learning and education, and that they do not have any major issues concerning them. Last year was a tough and hard year to get through, especially with online schooling and COVID-19. Therefore, to make sure this year runs smoothly is my biggest priority. I would just like to thank everyone who voted for me to be their SRC leader. THANK YOU!!
Year 12 SRC - Elma
It is an honour to represent Eucalyptus as your Year 12 SRC rep. I have previously been the Year 10 SRC rep and I know the importance of leadership and the encouragement one needs. I want to improve my leadership skills, be supportive and help those around me. I have been a teen library advisor and participated in a range of school events. I have enjoyed participating in chorals and athletics, as these opportunities have helped me build my confidence and wellbeing as a person. Let us make this year great and one to remember!
