Year One News

The Year One students have settled into school well. They are thoroughly enjoying catching up with their old friends and making new ones. They have shown lots of independence, organising themselves each morning and following the routines of the day. They have been learning about the school rules, values and cybersafety, and have lots to contribute to class discussions.

In Maths, they have begun to learn about time (days of the week and months of the year) and place value (numbers up to 100). In Literacy, the students are learning to recognise nouns, use eagle-eye to find picture clues to draw meaning from the text, and sequence the events that took place.

They have also started athletics practice and will do this as part of their PE sessions, too.

The teachers are proud of them all and the smooth start we’ve had, and are excited about the term ahead.
