Environmental Council

Over the last month, the new Environmental Council Executive has been busy navigating their way around new jobs such as being in charge of plantations, bird feeding, seed collection and the overall management of the Environmental Council. Currently Wattle, Callistemon and Hakea seeds are being collected in preparation of their being planted around the College for the Regeneration Project. There has also been discussion about the addition of wooden bird feeders in the Aboriginal Gardens to further encourage native birds to settle in that area.

The Environmental Council would like to thank Mr Bernie Williams for assisting in the supervision on the fence line of the College for the Regeneration Project and Mr Wade Leu for supervising the last Environmental Council meeting, stepping in for Mr Shaun Nichols. The new Executive would like to send appreciation to Mr Shaun Nichols for patiently and graciously guiding them through their newly appointed jobs and assisting in their new journey.

Over the coming months, the Environmental Council plans to continue both the Regeneration Project and plant propagation in the nursery. The Environmental Council Executive has also discussed new ways in which they are able to encourage sustainability throughout the College, such as growing vegetables for the canteen’s use in order to reduce commercial packaging and school costs.

For those who want to make a difference to the environment, come and join the Environmental Council. By contributing you can have a direct impact on not only the College's environment, but our world's environment and opportunities will be open to you.
