Principal Post

Dear Families,

It is terrific to have all our students  back again after the state 'snap lockdown' these past few days. I hope that your children were able to complete some school directed learning tasks as well as  engage in some family activities.

The students seemed happy today and once again resume their participation in our school based learning programs. I thank you for your support in following directions from our Chief Health Officer.

I thank the staff who used  'the lockdown' time to supervise students both at school and home, plan programs and engage in a range of Professional Learning activities.

COVID Safe Principles for schools will of course continue to be followed.  As COVID -19 is a new virus, new scientific research is regularly emerging. We will  continue to follow the directions of the Chief Health Officer and Catholic Education Office. As we saw last Friday, these directions can change  week by week, or day by day. We will continue to adapt to support our students as best we can.

Key behaviours required for reducing COVID-19 transmission risk, include ensuring your child stays home  when unwell.  COVID/ Flu like symptoms require you to be tested.  At school we will promote  regular hand hygiene.

Parents are asked to wear a mask when onsite.

 Lent

Yesterday began the Season Of Lent. In the absence of our Ash Wednesday Liturgy we plan to gather again at school with our students for a reflective ceremony.  We will let you know of a date.

School Photos

The School Photos will take place NEXT Monday 22nd February.

Students will wear School Summer Uniform. Please note that students are officially able to wear either white or grey socks with their uniform.

Parents will need to sign upon arrival via a QR code at the doors to the school buildings when they arrive.  If possible wait outside and enter the classroom just prior to the time of your conversation. Please wear a mask and practise social distancing.

 Prep Information Evening

With COVID restrictions preventing last Tuesday's  Prep information evening, we have decided to send some information home to you in writing in due course.

We will also talk further around Literacy and Numeracy and answer any questions at our Prep Pizza with the Principal evening on March 10th. Any issues/ clarifications  please ensure you speak to the class teacher. Leaders are also here to assist you.

Safety around parking

An important and friendly reminder to all parents and grandparents to take particular  care when dropping off or picking up children. At peak times there are many students, parents, grandparents and toddlers around both the Parish Carpark and at the Back Gate.  It can be quite congested and requires everyone to be extremely watchful and patient. Please be mindful of pedestrian traffic. For the safety of everyone, please be careful and follow the instructions of any school and street signage.

Please be  courteous and respectful of  the rights of local traders and neighbours when you park in the surrounding streets to drop off or pick up your children.

Do not park in or  over neighbours driveways.

In Dunoon Court outside the shops  please ensure you do not block users from accessing or leaving shop carparks. You may have to "let the public" in and out - patience and respect is the key!

Do not drop your child off on the  on  Corner of Studley and Bevis Street in the no standing area.

At Police Road, John our Crossing Supervisor, does an amazing job, getting students and community members across the crossing. Please be particularly careful when approaching the crossing in your car and never drive through the crossing when the Supervisor steps out on to the Road.

The Council and Police do and will continue to enforce fines on people who are not obeying the law. Fines are significant.
