International Day and more.

International Day 2020

As we come to the end of this extra ordinary year, how wonderful it was to be able to celebrate as a whole school all of our different cultures and backgrounds on International Day.

Our ‘Trip Around The World’ involved students participating in seven different activities for each of the seven continents.

There was a scavenger hunt around the school, Mexican fiesta on the oval, African dance in the hall and much, much more!

The students were dressed so colourfully with some really beautiful costumes and creative ways to celebrate their heritage and a fun day was had by all.

Thanks,

Cendrine

Year 5 Survivor Day

Written By: Hannah S & Jaida S

On Thursday the 10th of December 2020 all the year 5s came together for a day of fun! We had a survivor day, run by the year 5 teachers and Mr. McKay.

Survivor day is when you split into ‘tribes’ (groups of seven or eight) and we all did fun activities such as: The water obstacle course, orienteering, pompom chopstick race and a paper plane folding competition.

We all got to dress up and make banners and decorate tiki torches for our tribes!

Some messages from year 5 students:

“Why thank you for asking Hannah and Jaida! It was really fun to test our abilities of teamwork!”-Audrey and Pippa,

“My feet hurt!”-Kevin, and “I thought it was a great approach at teamwork and I thank the teachers who organised the event!”-Maddie.L.

At the end of the day, we added up all our points and then announced the winners!!

We all tried our best and we were all winners in the end! Thank you too: Ms. Temple, Ms. Millar, Mr. Bull, Mr. McKay and all the other helpers!

Conder House Captaincy

Sadly we farewell Luca from 5M who will be leaving Ivanhoe Primary next year. She was elected as the Conder vice-captain for 2021. The good news is we have an outstanding replacement. Cleopatra from 5B has been chosen and enthusiastically accepted the vacant position. We now have a full team back representing Conder. Ivanhoe Primary School can’t wait to see lots of energy, fun and strong leadership that the 16 house captains will bring to IPS next year.
