VCAL Class of 2020

Anne Gough

As in all past years every Intermediate and Senior VCAL student successfully completed their VCAL certificate course. The students have again had remarkable success in finding employment and further education options for 2021. Some students left during the year to take up employment opportunities. At the Senior level one student left for full time employment, while at the Intermediate level two students took on apprenticeships in automotive, one in plumbing and one in full time employment. At the end of the year all Senior students were placed for this year in areas of stock and station and sales yard work, farming and work in AI.  At the Intermediate level twelve students left to take up apprenticeships in the following areas of building, electrical, three in plumbing, three in farming, one in forestry work and another in an administration traineeship and two students are going to Longerenong Agriculture College.

VET

The success of VET studies is clearly evident as it is providing excellent pathways into many vocational areas. VET is a compulsory and integral part of VCAL and also a possible subject for VCE students. VET is facilitating many apprenticeship, employment and further education opportunities to students. Agriculture is another VET option and through the traineeship arrangement Monivae has with RIST is creating many training and employment opportunities in a rapidly expanding agriculture market.

Scored assessment results in VET subjects were sound, with one student just missing a 40 score in VET Sport and Recreation.

Well done to the class of 2020.
