What's happening at CHPS

Performing Arts News

CHPS Xmas Active afternoon was a huge success and the kids had an absolute ripper time, filled with loads of holiday, or near holidays cheer.  The staff and students of CHPS attempted to beat the Guinness World Record for the largest paper chain.  The current record is a whopping 780 metres!  And ours measures in at 245 metres. Not quite the world record but a great attempt and plenty of fun for all those involved. A huge thank you to the specialist team, Mr A, Miss Wilson and Miss Fletcher for their time, help and contributions.

2021 Victorian State School Spectacular Mass Choir - Expressions of Interest:

Good news everyone!!  CHPS is once again registered to participate in the Victorian State School Spectacular!  This is a wonderful program and event and an incredible opportunity for our students.  Our students will be participating in the Mass Choir, which combines singers from a myriad of different schools to put on an amazing arena spectacular. However due to Covid-19 this may look a bit different next year.  The Department of Education and Training – Performing Arts Unit has proposed that this year the Spectacular is going to be a television show.  Schools from across Victoria will be coming into the Performing Arts Unit to professionally film a segment of the show.  I can only take 25 students to participate in the Spectacular and need to register our students by February 15th, 2021.  Please, if your child is interested, send me an expression of interest to brodie.douma-king@education.vic.gov.au.  I plan on shortlisting students prior to the commencement of Term 1, because I have to send out media release forms in the first week and have them back by week 3.

Art News

Our Junior students have been producing wonderful, colourful artwork to brighten up the Offices of the Leadership Team.

I would like to thank this year's Art Captains, Danika & Madii, who have worked so hard to inspire their fellow students and promote Visual Arts throughout the school.  They have done great work promoting our Artist of the Week, choosing our winners and interviewing them about their artworks.  This week Madii turned the tables on Danika, with a revealing interview to inspire the Art Captains of the future.
