A  Race to Paradise

As the glowing, crimson sun dipped below the vast horizon, day retreated to allow night to take its place. The dragons took flight.

The sky was grey. Thunder. Lightning. A sight of pure death. One cloud was as white as can be. It slowly floated toward the dragons. They tried to fly upward so they could avoid it but a flash of lightning jolted in front of them. They had no choice, they flew into the cloud and with a surprise were lifted up above them.

The sky was bountiful; wisps of downy pillow-like clouds parted in front of them as they flexed their compelling wings. Like sails from ancient ships their wings beat in the embers of the sun's intense heat.

Their wings dove below the clouds, sending the three dragon’s bodies downward. The sight excited the dragons and they felt empowered. The azure sky lit up their eyes, filling their hearts with content, casting away all their dejected emotions. They embraced the refreshingly cool wind as it tickled between their scales. What more could they give for everyday to be like this?

As the sleepy, sneaky, saffron sun said goodnight, the radiant but brawny stars, took their place, proud and gratified. They shone the way for the dragons, stimulating them to keep travelling, as they got closer and closer to paradise. Not a bit of sunlit sky in sight.

As they stared into the endless night sky, they saw what they had been looking for as it grew more and more. The place of paradise was under their feet. Their mighty wings sliced through the thin air. They had arrived. That final piece of paradise was finally theirs.

The evergreen forests and flowing streams. Mountains of grey and magical falls. This truly was paradise. This was home. The dragons were home.
