Junior School News

A.F.L - the last few weeks have seen the Junior School finish off the ‘A.F.L in Schools’ Program. The skills covered included marking (chest), kicking and ball control. All of these skills were completed in modified mini games which fostered participation and continued to work on fundamental movement skills. ‘Ogre’s Treasure’ was a fun game where the students practised their ball handling and dodging skills.

Here are some of the student’s highlights:

Milla J (FB) - “I learnt how to handball and had fun kicking the footballs.”

Chase (1B) - “I liked handballing to my partner, it was the best.”

Senior School News

Table Tennis - the last few weeks have seen the Senior School finish off the ‘Spinneroos’ Program. The focus has been on serving, forehand/backhand technique and game play.

Here are some of the student’s highlights:

Mia (5A) - “I enjoyed learning how to grip the bat and try and knock down targets.”

Kayde V (5A) - “I liked learning how to serve to start a rally.”

Lunchtime Competitions

Over the last two weeks the year 5 and 6 students have taken part in indoor cricket and table tennis games during the breaks. Whether it be a specky one handed catch or a ripping forehand winner, it has been a joy to hear the sportsmanship and laughs shared by the senior school students in what has been a tough year with little sporting events taking place.

Foundation 2021 Mini Play Sessions

Over the last few weeks the 2021 Foundation students have attended mini play sessions. During these visits our future Cranbourne South stars got to take home a brand new tennis racquet thanks to Tennis Australia as part of the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Racquet program. As a result, we may have a future Ash Barty or Alex de Minaur in the making! Looking forward to meeting all the new Foundation students next year.

Physical Vibe & House Captains

I just wanted to say a big thankyou to our departing Physical Vibe and House Captains. In a year like no other you have demonstrated leadership and resilience. Whilst we may not have got to conduct all our events I am extremely proud of the many ways you have contributed to helping your peers and myself during the year. The Swimming Carnival, Virtual Cross Country, Virtual Footy Day, lunchtime competitions, equipment borrowing and assisting with the set up of sub school sports on Fridays are just some of the ways you have helped!

Good luck with your future leadership endeavours at Secondary school.

A huge congratulations to our newly elected 2021 House Captains and Specialist Captains - I am looking forward to working with you next year to ensure Cranbourne South kids remain happy, healthy and active!

Lastly I would like to say a big thankyou to the whole Cranbourne South community. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year teaching Physical Education at C.S.P.S and can not wait for bigger and better things next year.
