Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

STUDENT LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT ASSEMBLY

We have contacted the parents of students who will have leadership responsibilities next year (2021) to attend a special WebEx Student Leadership Announcement Assembly tomorrow at 2.45pm. The parents and the students are unaware of which leadership responsibility they will have until the formal announcement.

TRANSITION DAYS SUCCESS

Our 3-day transition program we run each year has again been a great success!

We welcomed our new 2021 Foundation students on Tuesday who spent the day engaging in lots of hands on activities and getting to know their new friends. We are delighted that next year we will have 3 medium sized classes of Foundation students in 2021.

During the transition days all of our students have been exceptionally resilient (great school value) and have enjoyed getting to know their new teacher for 2021 and any new classmates that they may have. These days are very important to build strong relationships and connections with others. This significantly helps with making sure the start to the new year will be a smooth one!

The knowledge the teachers gain over the 3 days is exceptionally valuable and allows our staff to start planning for the learning ahead!

Our Year 6 students transitioning to secondary school also had a great experience for their day at their respective new high schools for next year. while certainly a little nervous they all had a positive experience!

YEAR 6 GRADUATION – TUESDAY 15TH DECEMBER

As we draw closer to the end of the year, it will be a time of change and new experiences for our Year 6 students who will move on to secondary school. To help celebrate their years of primary school we are finally able to hold a Year 6 Graduation. We have held off in the hope that we would be able to hold a graduation for our Year 6's and we are extremely excited that we will now be able to do this albeit with a limited number of guests.

The ceremony will be held in the Andrew Groh Gymnasium but unfortunately due to restrictions only two guests will be able to attend for each family and only the current teachers to ensure we can apply social distancing health and safety regulations. It is always an exciting night and we are delighted that we will be able to help the Year 6's celebrate the end of their primary school years at Maramba.

EARLY FINISH LAST DAY OF SCHOOL 2020 – 1.30pm

Please remember the early finish for the last day of school next Friday 18th December 1.30pm.

CURRICULUM DAY – TERM 1, 2021

We wanted to let everyone know early so you can plan ahead that our first Curriculum Day next year will be Friday 12th February. There will be no school on this day. Our staff will be collaborating with Chalcot Lodge Primary School as we strengthen our professional knowledge and practice of literacy instruction through Fountas and Pinnell.

TheirCare will run a day program for families needing the service. All bookings must be made directly with them.

Take care and stay safe!

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
