'Tapping into student curiosity and allowing them to create, test and re-create.'

Chemical Science

We have had a great start to STEM this year.  The students in grades 3-6 have been working in the Science area of STEM with the main focus on Chemical Sciences.  During their first two lessons the students have learnt about the states of matter: solids, liquids and gases.  In their most recent lesson students discovered that temperature can change the state of matter.  Students made ice-cream (solid) from milk and cream (liquid) proving that removing heat will change the state of matter from a liquid to solid. Notably the students did this without the use of a freezer, and only used ice and salt.  The recipe is available on google classrooms if your child wants to have another go at home.
