Principal's News

'Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness.'

Dear Families

I trust you and your family are happy and well.

Over the past fortnight we have been discussing with our students the meaning of how we use our Kind hearts, Kind words and Kind thoughts. We refer to this as the Fatima way - as following the example of Jesus. We also highlight the importance of having Kind/Safe hands. Feel free to use this similar language with your children at home, even by simply asking questions like how they used kind words with their classmates or teachers. It's one simple way to work in partnership together.

A FEW UPDATES:

COVID-19

As of yesterday, the most significant change in our school operations guidelines is that if a student or staff member tests positive through a rapid antigen test, but does not have symptoms or has not been in contact with anyone who has COVID-19, it is recommended that they get a PCR test within 48 hours and stay isolated until they receive their result. If the PCR test is negative, the student or staff member can return to school.

RATs

Today students were given a 5-pack of Rapid Antigen Tests for the upcoming fortnight. The continued recommendation is for primary students and staff to test twice weekly on a school day.

School Advisory Council

A fortnight ago our School Advisory Council met online for the very first time. It was a great opportunity for everyone to introduce themselves and gain further insight into the work the council does. We meet twice per term on certain matters pertaining to Fatima, especially working together in mission. Our council members include:

  • Alena Mc Donald
  • Brendan McKinnon
  • Catherine Carroll
  • Fr John Paul Mount
  • Gill Carr
  • Louise Davidge
  • Mel Semple
  • Paul Poutney
  • Sarah McDermott
  • Toni D’Alia

Assembly

Tomorrow our Assembly will be led by 3/4M, we invite parents/carers of children in 3/4M to join us in the Hall at 9 am. Please know masks must be worn and you need to be able to show evidence at the office of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine or have a valid medical exception. Afterwards, you are welcome to stay for a 'Coffee and Chat' with myself and other leaders.

Kind regards

Sarah McDermott :)
