Principal Report

Dear families,

It has been a great few weeks at school with us pulling together to create events, experiences and memories for our students. We also have some big-ticket events on the horizon to look forward to.

We have had our first assembly together with families, staff and students out in the quad. We welcomed Bridget Vallence MP and member for Mt. Evelyn into school for our assembly. Bridget discussed being a leader and shared her support for a covered area over the Quad.

The grade 56 students also welcomed Harriet Shing MP into their classes to discuss Democracy as part of their inquiry unit. The knowledge she shared with the students and staff about her experience in Parliament will enrich their projects

It was lovely to have so many families here at the working bee last Friday. We managed to give the place a big tidy up as well as a few small construction jobs. I would like to thank Daena Hailey for organising as well as those families, students and staff that gifted us their time.

Saturday was Mooroolbark Festival. This is a good time for our school community to be on show for our local community. Prep teacher Elyce Munnecke and her team organsied our stand and the activities for prospective students to participate in. Several staff assisted on the day and prepared resources, as well as grade 56 leaders. Thank you for sharing your time and helping on the day to all those staff members and families.

We have farewelled some long-standing school council members this term. Tracy Lynch, Donna Platt, Joel Johnson, Vishal Patel and Teagan Cairns have served many years on the school council between them. Thank you for helping shape our school.

Continuing on School Council we have Jas Mishra, Danni Bortignon, John Hays, Jacinta Parolo, Claire Cripps and Emily Murcott.

We welcome new members Sam Kendrick, Sian Pearson, Mandi Ashby, Brett McDonald and Llinos Poole.

Feel free to share or raise any items with any

members of council for discussion.

Looking forward to the last 3 weeks of the school term we have:

Monday 21st  we have a STOMP Dance Presentation by Prep to Grade 2  students from 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm.

The on Friday 25th the P&F have organsied a s school Slime Run on the oval @ 2:30 pm

Mel Layton has organised the Whole School Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 29th at Morrison Reserve Athletics Track.

We also have for the first time in a long time whole level excursions. Science at the creek for grade 34 on Tuesday 5th April and the Grand Prix qualifiers for the grade 56 students on Friday 8th April, returning at 3:30 pm.

The last day is a 1:30pm finish for all other students, with OSH offered during the afternoon.

Some reminders:

Students should not be dropped at school before 8:30am. OSH is an option for families prior to this if you need children at school earlier. This is an OHS issue as staff are not available at school to supervise.

During morning drop off any parking needs to happen away from the school 'kiss and drop' areas. The safety of students is compromised when cars are not able to safely and quickly drop and go.

Thanks for the support.

Craig
