End of Term One in Year Two!

Inquiry

During our Term One Inquiry Unit, Health and Safety, students have explored the concepts of health, safety and wellbeing. They examined health messages to consider healthy decisions and behaviours. They also investigated actions that help make local places, their school and their classrooms healthy, safe and active places. Students described ways of making and keeping friends. They considered how actions and words can help or hurt others. They learned to recognise that conflict occurs and to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate ways to deal with conflict. Students also explored the type of acts often considered right and those often considered wrong and the reasons why they are considered so.

Harmony Day

On Tuesday 22nd March, USPS celebrated Harmony Day. Students came to school dressed in colours/attire of a country/culture in which they had a personal interest or cultural link. The official colour of Harmony Day is orange and it was great to see some students celebrating Harmony Day by wearing orange.

On this day Year Two students held meaningful discussions about Harmony Day and the importance of including everyone in our multicultural society. Students also completed Harmony Day lessons and activities.

We would like to thank the Year Two families and students for an amazing term. We have truly loved being in the classroom with them each day.

We wish you a happy Easter and a lovely, restful holiday. We look forward to welcoming students back in Term Two.

Take Home Readers and Spelling Books

As part of InitiaLit-2, students have free-choice of short and extended chapter books to take home and read. Year Two students are able to choose readers from school to take home and read nightly. Students in Year Two are also free to choose books from home to read each night if they wish. Students who choose their readers on a Monday are required to return them the following Monday. After reading, please record the name of the book and the length of time reading in the student diary for the day.

InitiaLit-2 suggests students practice spelling words at home each week. These spelling words will reinforce the words used in the classroom program. Instructions for the Spelling book are on the front cover of the Spelling book.

Tissues

Thank you to those families that have sent along a box of tissues to be used in your child's classroom. We would love for you to consider sending one in if you are yet to do so.

SPECIALIST TIMETABLE
