PERFORMING ARTS

STRING QUINTET

Congratulations to the String Quintet (Seung Yeon Jung (Year 11), Phoebe Rodda (Year 11), Andrew Seamer (Year 12), Jack Sweeney (Year 10) and Adrian Wan (Year 10)) who performed at the Thistlelonian Reunion held on Sunday 15 May. Thank you to Ms Clare Bugeja for her organisation of this group and of their involvement in the reunion.

SENIOR STAGE BAND

Congratulations to the Senior Stage Band who performed at the Frankston Music Festival, Schools Concert on Sunday 15 May. The concert was presented by students from Elisabeth Murdoch College, Frankston High School and McKinnon Secondary College, and for many was the first time that they had performed in over two years. The level of performance was high, and the support from both the other schools and the audience was fabulous. Thank you to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik for his work with the group and organisation of the excursion.

REMINDERS

All instrumental students are reminded to take their instruments home with them after their lessons so they can work on improving their musical skills!

ENSEMBLES

Students who are learning an instrument at the school are required to be part of the core ensemble program, and again being part of the instrumental program is dependent on commitment and attendance at ensembles.

These ensembles are an integral part of the music program, where students can apply the musical skills that they have covered in their individual or small group lessons. If students are unable to attend the rehearsal, this needs to be communicated with the ensemble director before the rehearsal takes place.

Core ensembles days and times

Main campus (Auditorium)

  • Wind Symphony - Tuesday after school (3:30 - 5pm)
  • Choir (vocal students 10-12) - Thursday lunchtime
  • Orchestra - Thursday after school (3:30 - 5pm)

East campus (VG.1)

  • East Campus Choir (Vocal students Years 8 - 9) Monday lunchtime
  • Keenan Strings - Monday after school (3:30 - 4.30pm)
  • Ovenden Band - Wednesday after school (3:30 - 4.30pm)
