Senior Cricket Northern Regional Finals

The Senior Boys' Cricket Team, led by coach Chris Peake, participated in the Northern Regionals on Tuesday, 22nd February at Donath Reserve in Reservoir, following on from our victory in the preliminary round in early February.

The Northern Regionals presented us with very tough opposition in Viewbank College, Northcote HS and Coburg HS and unfortunately, we lost all three of our games.  However, there were a few noteworthy performances. Captain Vihanga Fernando didn’t quite live up to expectations in the first two games but came out firing in the third game, smashing 78 runs off 19 balls against Coburg. Gurbir, from Year 10 batted well.  Alex Christakos was handy with the bat, chipping in with some runs and Paula Fahina hit some remarkable sixes. Kade Muir was spectacular in the field and Ahmed lifted team spirits with his inspiring speeches.  Dilhan Calimli fielded very well in the preliminary round in early February.  Although we didn’t get through to the state finals, a big thanks to all the boys for their positive attitude on two days of fun cricket!

Y7/8 Cricket

Our mixed Y7/8 cricket team went down to our local cricket ground for a fantastic day of cricket. They played 3 games on the day beating Whittlesea by a landslide but narrowly losing to Mill Park and Mernda. Some fantastic batting, fielding and sportsmanship were shown on the day. Well Done!

Inter Tennis

Our Inter Boys Tennis competed in the Division Tennis Tournament where they played some fantastic tennis on the day at the local tennis centre. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed top spot after one player was sick on the day, finishing second overall.

Well done to all the students who have represented the school so well in all the different events. Good luck to those who will be playing in the next few weeks, keep up the good work!
