Improvement Team Report

Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Improvement Team

Throughout this term the Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Improvement team have been working to oversee the developments being made throughout the college reporting and assessment practices – our work has included:

- Exam policy updates to accommodate the changes made in the Junior school moving from Investigate to English, EAL and Humanities classes and the Year 10 Mathematics changes.

- Developing exam scripts to be used in all semester examinations in Years 7-11. By using these exam scripts, we are aiming to build our students’ familiarity and strengthen the rigor of the Keysborough College exam processes.

- Exploring the option to increase VET subjects offered at Keysborough College in preparation for the Senior School Reform. The reform will bring about improvements to the current VCAL program allowing students to undertake a mixture of VCE subjects and VET courses during their senior studies.

We also hope that parents and students have found the recent progress reports and parent teacher interviews informative and they helped families to understand their childs academic strengths, as well as inspired meaningful conversations that promote improvement over the remaining year.

The College 5P learning behaviours can help form a strong basis for these discussions (Present, Prepared, Productive, Persistent and Proactive).

  • You could ask your child to reflect on these learning behaviours and set some personal goals for next term.
  • You could recognise the improvements your child is making with these learning behaviours and celebrate their success.
  • You could help your child to identify how their learning behaviours are impacting their learning outcomes.

Pathways and Community Improvement Team Report

This term the school hosted another successful Open Night.  The promotion of this event was done through the outstanding work of Year 7 Teaching Team Leaders, Rebekah Vass and Melissa Hoskin.  Throughout Term 1 the team has worked to update all the college’s marketing material with new photos and information in the brochures.  These are given to every Grade 5 and 6 student an our associated Primary School.  This was supported by a significant increase in our college’s presence on a variety of social media platforms.  It was fantastic to see so many prospective families come see the amazing programs and learning opportunities provided at both the Acacia and Banksia campuses of Keysborough College.

Other work being undertaken by the Pathways and Community Improvement Team at the moment is on the new VCE-Vocational Major and Vocational Pathways Certificates that are being introduced into all Victorian Schools from 2023.  The VCAA have begun releasing details of the new Vocational Major that is the centre piece of the Senior Certificate Reform based on the Firth Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Education.  The VCE-Vocational Major will roll out over the next two years, beginning with an introduction into Year 11 in 2023 and expand to Year 12 the following year.  Students currently in Year 10 will learn more about the VCE-Vocational Major and the Vocational Pathways Certificate options throughout Term 2 and at the Senior School Information Evening to be held in Term 3.
