Senior School Report

Senior School Article April 2022

It is difficult to believe we are now at the end of Term1 already! It has been such a positive start to 2022 to have all our students back on site and for learning to be face to face again. Both students and teachers have taken time to adjust to being back to this normal routine again but we are all so happy to have succeeded in a full term of in-class learning!

Alongside face to face learning our senior students have again been able to take opportunities to join in many extra –curricular learning activities and participate in excursions and incursions.

A summary of some of these learning enrichment experiences this term have been;

  • Youth Justice presentations
  • A range of Wellbeing presentations
  • Career sessions
  • Alumni visiting and assisting our students with resume writing and interview skills
  • Excursions for various subjects;
  • Stem; Forensics; Technology
  • Top Arts
  • ArtVo
  • Parkmore – Commerce

At the beginning of Term 2 all Year 11 and 12 VCE students will be attending an excursion to the VCE and Careers Expo.  This is an opportunity for students to think about their pathway options beyond school.  The South East VET and Careers Try a Trade that was for all VCAL students and all Year 10’s has been unfortunately postponed, but will run at the beginning of Term 3.

As subject assessments increase, we encourage our senior students to continue to develop their organisational skills and manage their study routines well.

  • Set aside time every night to revise work covered in class, complete homework and prepare for upcoming assessment
  • To ensure they take time away from digital devices
  • To try and have 8 or more hours sleep per night

A notice to all Senior School students, but especially year 12.  Each night of the week, Monday to Thursday we encourage students to work back in the Senior Building to get extra study and homework completed with their peers.  The school employs past high performing students as tutors to support our current Senior School students and we encourage everyone to take advantage of that extra support.  Each year we consistently see the students who perform the best in their Year 12 studies be the students that put in the extra hours of work after classes formally finish at 3:20pm.  As the year progresses we hope to see many more students at the after school study groups.

We wish our senior students a restful term 1 break.
