Whittlesea Food Collective -Community Connections Elective Is Now Active!

This week Year 11 and 12 VCAL students began their Whittlesea Food Collective volunteering. Some of the students will be actively working in the Whittlesea Food Collective Garden to plant and harvest vegetables used by the Whittlesea Food Collective whilst others work on unpacking and sorting donated items for the Whittlesea Food Collective. A team of VCAL students with the support of Robyn Scane and Food Tech staff, will be preparing healthy meals that will be packaged and donated to the Whittlesea Food Collective. The collective operate out of space at Epping’s Melbourne Polytechnic Campus. The Whittlesea Food Collective provide meals and groceries to families and people who are struggling to purchase groceries or prepare meals for their families. They support many struggling families in our local area. The Whittlesea Food Collective look forward to the support of our wonderful VCAL students and we thank Zianeb Ramadan of the Whittlesea Food Collective and her team for encouraging and supporting our involvement. I know our VCAL students will develop valuable citizenship skills, team work and interpersonal skills through this initiative as well as helping disadvantaged members of our community in a meaningful way.
