A message from the Principal
A few weeks ago I introduced the school community to our new school values. These values were chosen after last year's school review process where we worked with parents, students, and staff to identify what makes our school such a special place and what values and behaviours we want to encourage and highlight in our school community.
The new school values chosen are a reflection of these discussions and are;
- kindness,
- creativity,
- resilience
- curiosity
As I walk around the school I have been struck by how we see these values in actions every day in all our learning spaces.
Students are displaying and talking about these values every day and at our first assembly a few weeks ago students were able to delve deeper into how we demonstrate these values at school and in the community. To hear more examples from our students I went around the learning spaces to talk to them. Here is what they had to say.
Michaela FM – “You can be kind to people in the classroom by sharing and if someone falls over you help them up”
Rex FM- “Being creative is like creating anything you want no matter what it looks like, like a monkey, you can create a monkey”
Chihiro 1/2N – “Curiosity is when you are curious about something, that is a wondering. A wondering is when you say to yourself well what does this mean and how can I find out about it”
Felix 1/2N - “Kindness is about being kind and helping people”
Lucinda 5/6S – “We have been learning about resilience which is when you get something wrong you keep trying and trying again”
Kai 5/6S – “Creativity is not just about art but how we can be creative with our writing and our ideas”
If you haven’t done so yet, please go and visit our display board in the quadrangle. Here you will see some amazing displays of our learning and how we demonstrate our values at SKiPPS.
