Academic Assembly Wednesday 7 December 2016
The College held our Academic Assembly last Wednesday. We welcomed Fr John Baptist – Parish Priest of Sacred Heart, Kooringal, Sr Barbara Webber – Webber House Patron, Mr Alan Bowyer – Director of Schools, Mrs Jane Plum – School Services Officer at CSO, Mrs Brenda King – School Consultant at CSO and Mr Robert Smith - Plant Engineer from Enirgi.
The purpose of the Awards Evening is to recognise students who have excelled in their academic pursuits and those who have shown an exceptional commitment to learning.
The First Place in Subject Award goes to the student who has achieved the number 1 ranking of all the students in the subject. Students performing at this level have achieved these results through hard work. Typically, they are adaptable, ask questions, work consistently week by week, use their individual talents well and work on areas they recognise they need to improve.
We congratulate students who have achieved these Awards, their dedication and desire to strive for excellence is commendable.
Students who have consistently applied themselves to their own learning were also recognised. In the Semester Reports, teachers indicate students’ application to learning as Consistently, Usually, Sometimes or Rarely. The following students have achieved all ‘C’s’ in Application to Learning in all subjects they study. This indicates commitment to most important qualities – consistency and application to their own learning, and at the same time, respecting the learning of others.
Students who have excelled in ALL areas of learning and their outstanding commitment and hard work were also acknowledged. As well as being awarded all A Grades for each of the subjects they study, they have also been awarded C grades in all the Approach to Learning categories for each subject they study. This is an indication of extraordinary commitment to learning and academic excellence.
