OPERATION BACKPACK - THANK YOU
Over sixteen backpacks were filled with supplies and given to Renee from Vinnies who will distribute them to clients in need in preparation for the 2017 school year! Thank you Mater Dei.
CHRISTMAS LITURGY
Last Wednesday night we gathered as a community for our Christmas Liturgy and Awards Evening. We had time to reflect on the blessings that we have received in 2016. The story of Jesus’ birth was creatively retold through talented dancers, musicians and readers. We are a part of the great Christian journey that began that glorious night over 2000 years ago when Jesus was born. His story is our story.
SYDNEY STREET RETREAT
Mr Hope, Miss Nolan and ten Year 12 students recently embarked on the Sydney Street Retreat. Students and staff worked with the homeless and disadvantaged people of Sydney. See some of their reflections on the Street Retreat page of this newsletter.
END OF SCHOOL YEAR
With Gratitude and Grace
We come in gratitude for the year
that has gone by.
We thank God for all the wonderful events we have celebrated, we remember the times of challenge that we may have gone through and ask for continued blessings and graces during our holiday.
Stop for a moment... think back over the past year. Can you remember moments of kindness shown to you during the year? When you look back over the year, were we grateful for those times? Again, when we think about our gifts and talents, and the achievements we may have had throughout the year, big or small, have we shown gratitude for those who have nurtured us along the way? Our teachers, our parents, our friends … God?
Whatever we do in life, a spirit of gratitude will take us far. Let us be grateful for all the blessings that this school year has been – all the ups and the downs – and for the growth that we have experienced. May God’s graces and blessings always strengthen us and encourage us to be the best that we can be.
God our Father,
You have given us the gift of each other as we come together as a
school community.
We offer our gratitude for the joy and the memories that this school
year has brought us and pray for rest and rejuvenation to continue
to share your love and peace in a new year.
We pray for those who are leaving our school community this year
that Your light continues to guide their journey.
We ask these prayers through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
