Kindergarten News

What an amazing Kinder picnic we had last week, there were so many connections that were created and it was incredible to just come together as a community after two disrupted years.

We have the school and kindergarten twilight sports carnival this Thursday, starting with a short kinder race at 5:50pm . Please arrive by 5:30pm and we will collect the children just before we race.

See you then.

Marram:

Our children participated in another week full of rich learning opportunities in the Marram group.

They enjoyed singing and learning new songs, and this week we added instruments (bells) to our music sessions, which were a hit! We also held discussions about what makes a good friend, with the children offering their own ideas of what friendship looks like, and demonstrating these qualities during their play.

Our Chinese language teacher, Christina, also started working with the children this week. We learnt about the significance of the colour red in Chinese culture, and about Chinese New Year.

We continued to explore our amazing new outdoor space. What a hardworking, enthusiastic group of children we have!

Budja:

It was a week where we explored the concept of kindness with our Budja class.

Using the children's own prior knowledge, and building on this with videos and photos of the children engaging with kindness, empathy and co-operation afforded the teachers the opportunity to land this understanding practically within the classroom.

We used the book 'how full is your bucket' to extend this learning, the concept is that we fill an invisible bucket within ourselves and others when we support and act kindly, we dip when we act in ways that upset others. Here is a link to the youtube reading, feel free to watch this with your child and ask them what they know about filling someones bucket.

The children adored drawing, painting and construction again last week! It has been incredible to witness how the children are coming together as a class and the individual personalities and uniqueness are emerging and blooming already! :)

We are looking forward to the twilight sports carnival on Thursday, we hope to see you there at 5:15pm for a 5:30pm start.
