The Return of the Children

There are some times, in one's adult life, when you connect right back to the joy and excitement of childhood, and last week was one of them. I was delighted and honoured to be part of a collaborative and imaginative tour of Arlington. Together, the children created tickets, money, an itinerary and a microphone for our imaginary bus ride around the campus.

The return of the children at Arlington is such a special time. Our wonderful team of teachers is mindful of, and alive to, the needs of the children who are returning to onsite school, each in their own way.

If your child is experiencing some trepidation, or you are curious about how we are making accommodations, please don't hesitate to reach out to your teaching team.

Hello Josh Webinar

It was terrific to host a webinar session with Dr Josh Brody on Monday evening. Thank you everyone for overlooking our slight technical issue with the passcode, and jumping in to get to know a little about Josh.

Josh was introduced by Emma Zipper, chair of School Council, who described the international search which found the 'needle in a haystack' that is Josh. For those who missed it, we have recorded the session and include a link here.

The recording begins with Emma talking about the School Council's search for our next Principal, and includes an overview of Josh's considerable experience and accomplishments. I would like to state that my welcome and Acknowledgement of Country, which Josh refers to, was not captured because I got a bit flustered and hit "record" without ticking the confirm box! I include the Acknowledgement of Country here.

"Preshil respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and we pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded, and we acknowledge the people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we are fortunate to have our School."

There will also be a series of smaller Zoom sessions offered to our community, and should you want to join Josh in conversation, please sign up on the google form here.

I have said before, and I can now share with you, the audience, how fortunate we are to have secured Josh to come on board as Principal from 2022. Many who watched on Monday night have made a point of confirming this with me.
