PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

As Year 12 finish up their formal studies at The Riverina Anglican College it is always a time of mixed feelings. I have had the pleasure of working with the cohort for the past five years and have enjoyed the opportunity of witnessing their maturation and diligence in all aspects of their schooling. I have also had the amazing blessing of working with four outstanding young leaders – George Kirolus, Holly Wilson, Caitlin Rodham and Inigo Bardos. All very different…all very driven…but most of all…all of them possess the most incredible heart for service. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to have worked with them and to have learned from them. Thank you!

In a world that seems increasingly snarky and judgmental, be kind. Be kind to your friends, be kind to your family, and be kind to yourselves. Remember, just as you are, everyone else is just doing the best they can.

In the shadow of the exams and university entrance scores, while you’re creating your own definition of success, let me relate to you Ralph Waldo Emerson’s. I first read this in a letter my dad sent me out of the blue when I was at university. He said success is:

“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a little better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.”

Farewell and good luck.
