Book Week

Last term we celebrated Book Week on 9/9/2021 and our theme was Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds. We celebrated by having a book parade. In the book parade we dressed up as our favourite characters from our favourite books. We also had to bring our books with us to show what character we are from the book. We had to cope with the materials and resources we had in our house. After that we got to meet famous authors during the book week and some information about the book they have written the little legends.

On book day Adrian Beck and Nicole Hayes came for an online author talk. Adrian is a children's author who has written many books already. Some books he has written include: The Derek Dool series, The Kick it to Nick series that he wrote with Shane Crawford and the Little Legends series that he has written with Nicole Hayes, as well as many more books. On book day Adrian and Nicole read the first chapter of their shared series, Little Legends. It was an amazing start to their series. He also answered questions and ran a fun quiz with Nicole about each class' footy knowledge. Adrian inspired and reminded students that you don't have to be an adult to write a book. It was a great and unique author talk so a big thank you to Adrian Beck.

Each level or grade were all on a group call, and everyone discussed who they dressed up as. We all dressed up as lots of different, and popular book characters, such as characters from Harry Potter, Wolf Girl, Dr Seuss books, Wonder, Rohld Dahl’s books, David Walliams’ books, The Mysterious Benedict Society, NeverMoor, Unicorn Academy, Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Tree House books, and lots more! Everyone enjoyed guessing who their friends and teachers were dressed up as too. The parade was very different from the usual school parade but we know everyone had loads of fun.

All classes read books from the CBCA shortlist in the early childhood section (which are available in the library for reading when we return onsite). Here are some other book suggestions you might like to read:
