SEMESTER TWO STUDENT REPORTS

The Department of Education and Training as yet hasn’t outlined the expectations around student reporting for Semester 2 in recognition of the continued disruption caused by COVID-19.

When we resume onsite learning, we will continue to deliver a comprehensive teaching and learning program and to monitor the learning of each student, we will adjust our program to reflect the recent periods of remote and flexible delivery. More information will be shared with families over coming weeks.

GRADE STRUCTURES FOR 2022

We have an expected 2022 enrolment of approximately 570 students. Exact student numbers are yet to be finalised but if enrolments are what I am anticipating we expect to run 25 classes. We will have 4 prep grades, 4 grade ones, 4 grade twos, 4 grade threes, 3 grade fours, 3 grade fives and 3 grade sixes. Further details will be shared with families prior to the end of term and like previous years children will know their 2022 class before we finish up for the holidays.

It is the time of year when we ask families to notify us of their intentions for the following year. This is important as it allows us to plan for the correct number of classes. If your child is not returning to CPS in 2022, please email the school at Carnegie.ps@education.vic.gov.au  notifying us of your intentions so we can make accurate plans by October 22nd at the latest.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY – FRIDAY 29th OCTOBER

Friday 29th October is World Teachers’ Day. Each year UNESCO declares World Teachers’ Day as the last Friday in October.

We value the efforts of our CPS teachers each and every day but this is an opportunity say a particularly big ‘Thank You’ and acknowledge their professionalism and commitment to ensuring the students at Carnegie Primary School are well cared for.

Due to restrictions not all students will be onsite with their classes but Mrs Grimm and I will try to make the day a little special for our teachers.

SUN SMART FOR TERM FOUR

Please remember that students should be wearing their sun smart hat when playing outside at recess and lunch breaks. School hats can be purchased from Primary School Wear in North Road but are also available at the office. Plain navy sun smart hats that can be purchased from local department stores are also acceptable, particularly if you like to keep a spare one! Students can choose to wear the legionnaire’s cap or the broad brimmed hat. Please remember to name all school hats with a permanent marker as we find many unnamed hats in our school and have difficulty returning them to their owners.

COVID SAFE LEARNING SPACES

DET have created the School Shade Sails Fund (the Fund) to provide funding to schools for shade development to facilitate outdoor learning. The aim of the Fund is to help schools maximise the use of their outdoor learning areas and environments by creating new safe and shaded outdoor learning spaces in schools to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Schools are required to increase fresh air flow into indoor spaces whenever possible and to maximise the use of outdoor learning areas or environments. CPS has applied for a grant to increase areas in our school covered by shade sails. We will notify the community if we are successful with this application.
