And that’s a wrap for yet another term of round robin events. The Year 8’s competed in Badminton, Netball and Soccer in early June. Well done to the netball teams who have now progressed to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Level to be played in early August. A good effort by the Badminton and Soccer teams who had some wins on the day but not enough to qualify. A big thank you to our student coaches for all the sports and the staff coaches for supervising and coaching their teams – Mrs Mathews and Mr Hughes.

 

The Year 7s went out a week later to play also in Badminton, Netball and Soccer coached by Miss O’Hara, Mr Hull and Ms Cappucio. Once again our junior netballers have made it to the next round together with the soccer team. 

 

Term 3 kicks off with a number of regional games for various teams so please keep your eye out in your emails for this information. In addition to this, there are more opportunities to represent MGSC at a Round Robin day as listed below:

Year 7 Soccer report 

The Year 7 soccer team, accompanied by Ms Cappuccio and the student coaches (us)  completed in a Round Round on Thursday 13 June at Kingston Heath Reserve. Round 1 they defeated Glen Eira with the final score of 14-0. Round 2 was against Cheltenham the team won 2-0 and moved on to the final were they won against Elwood 6-3.

 

Over the entire day 22 goals were scored which was a fantastic result. A stand out player was Ana who was an incredible player throughout the day contributing the majority of Mentone’s goals.

 

The Year 7 soccer team will be moving on to the next round of regional soccer during this year. A big congratulations to all the girls who participated.
