Sports News
"On Wednesday the 18th of July, the Mixed Netball Team had a fantastic day as they battled out for a place in the district inter-school sport netball competition. In their first game they played Williamstown Primary. It was a very tough game and it came down to the wire. As the siren went we were lucky that we had the shot to tie the game and we scored, SWISH! The game was over and ended in a tie. As we waited for the next game, we had a team meeting. Our second game was against Sacred Heart. QOP got the first goal and had all the momentum on our side. When the siren went off QOP beat Sacred Heart by 27 goals. When we were warming up for our third game against Lumen Christi we still had all the momentum and when the game started, in a matter of seconds QOP scored their first goal. QOP were playing really well and we were having a great time. QOP come 1st and were so happy Marco made a speech in front of everyone as he collected the flag because we came first. We walked back to school and told everyone the fantastic news, we were all so proud of the Netball team!! Well done guys!!!"

G.A.T.E.WAYS Program
Gateways is a program run externally of the school for children who are highly able, gifted and talented in curriculum areas. The program requires parent participation and responsibility to pay and travel to the various schools where the programs are held. In previous years the school has managed the paperwork and programs, so parents can enrol their children. It has been a time consuming process. This year there are only a few programs run in the Western suburbs. The link below is for Gateways Programs. Browse through the Term 3 list and see if any are of interest. If you feel your child is highly able and would benefit from or is interested in any of these programs, please contact me and I will enrol them. No expressions of interest will be sent out this year to parents from the school.

QoP joins the War on Waste
After ‘War on Waste’ aired on ABC TV Tuesday night, many discussions on recycling and caring for our environment have already taken place in the classrooms and even in our staffroom! The number of children joining the Rubbish Busters and helping to clean up the yard on Wednesday has dramatically increased and it’s all because children are exploring the impact waste has on our environment. Don’t forget to watch episode 2 of ‘War on Waste’ Tuesday at 8:30pm.

Seeking Canteen Volunteers
The School Canteen needs your help! Volunteers are a vital part of ensuring children get their lunches on time. There are no special skills required. Volunteers help our Canteen Manager, Mrs Antoinette Kelly prepare lunch orders for the children. The canteen is open each weekday and helpers are usually required between 10am – 2pm. If you are unable to commit to the full four hours, perhaps you could help out for one or two hours instead. A roster is organised each term for volunteers and all help is appreciated. Forms to respond can be found on FlexiBuzz.
