A message from Father John
Congratulations, Farewell and Thank You
We say farewell to Archbishop Denis Hart who for the last 17 years has guided the Church or Melbourne. We thank him for his guidance and leadership. May he enjoy his retirement.
Congratulations to Bishop Peter Comensoli who this Wednesday 1 August will be installed as the ninth Archbishop of Melbourne, may he walk in the footsteps of Jesus the Good Shepherd.
Some facts about our New Archbishop:
- He was born on 25 March 1964
- He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Wollongong in 1992
- His studies: Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Alphonsian Academy in Rome in 2000, a Master of Letters in Moral Philosophy from the University of St Andrews in 2007 and a Doctor of Philosophy in theological ethics from the University of Edinburgh in 2010.
- Was appointed an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Sydney by Pope Benedict XVI on 20 April 2011. He was consecrated as a bishop by Cardinal George Pell at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney on 8 June 2011, becoming Australia's youngest bishop.
- On 20 November 2014, Pope Francis appointed Comensoli as the Bishop of Broken Bay. His installation took place on 12 December.
- On 29 June 2018, Comensoli was appointed Archbishop of Melbourne. His installation is scheduled for 1 August.
- He has written a book titled: Walking the Way of Mercy and Simplicity
School Aged Baptism
If you would like your school aged children baptised they will need to attend a class on
Wednesday 1 August at Queen of Peace Church, from 4-5pm. One parent must be a baptised Catholic and baptism certificate will need to be sighted. Please call the Parish Office on 9369 6877 for further information.
