Magic or Science?

That was the question to be answered. On Wednesday 16 August, the ELC children attended a special show for Science Week. At the beginning, everyone thought it was “Magic” but by the end there were quite a few conversions to “Science”. We saw:

  • Balloons skewered with a stick that didn’t ‘pop’
  • Candles that were put out by using a gas
  • Potions that changed colour by blowing into them
  • Flames that changed colour and turned into tornadoes

And, so exciting, how to make dragon breath.

The children were thoroughly enthralled in the performance. The questions asked were profound and the statements intriguing – all from 3, 4 and 5-year olds.

We hope to be able to replicate some of these experiments with the assistance of staff from the chemistry laboratory.

Thank you to Mr Duro Dobrijevic for once again including us in Science Week.

A reminder to all ELC families that now we are in Term 3, ELC broad brimmed hats are to be worn for outside play.

And at the other extreme, we also ask that raincoats, hats and umbrellas are brought to the ELC for wet weather play.
