COMPASS MINI TUTORIALS

PARENT CURRICULUM INFORMATION EVENING

One more week to go and you get the chance to find out about your child’s day to day learning experiences and year level expectations. Education is evolving at such a fast pace and what we experienced at school is so remarkably different to our students in today’s classrooms. Our teachers are preparing to address some of your burning questions. The more informed you are about your child’s day, the better the learning, conversations and support you can provide. The age old question of “What did you do today?" - might actually be answered or asked differently!

SAVE THE DATE:

Tuesday 12th March

F-Yr. 2    5:30pm-6:30pm

Yr. 3-6    6:45pm-7:45pm

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART DAY 2019 & GOODBYE TO MRS. HARMS

Jump Rope for Heart is well underway and it’s great to see so many children out in the playground skipping with smiles on their faces. We have raised so far: $4,334 - over $2000 more than our target. This is a fabulous contribution to the Heart Foundation.

Due to the extreme weather, we have postponed our official ‘Jump Off’ day till Friday 15th March. This event will be run by our House Captains. A schedule for the day will be shared closer to the date. Therefore, there is more time to practise some tricks and keep on raising funds for the Heart Foundation. If you still need to sign up online, you can do so here:

www.jumprope.org.au/parents . Also, just a reminder that no cash is being collected at school, so all the donations need to be electronically added to your accounts.

Also on 15 March, during the Whole School Assembly at 3pm, join us in the Barrbunin to officially farewell Mrs Harms and celebrate the indelible mark that she has made on the Ripponlea community.

CLASSROOM READING HELPERS COURSE F-2

Join Natalie Rose, our school Principal, as she takes you through some important literacy learning on helping young readers.

We are seeking parent volunteers who hold or are willing to apply for a working with children’s check to help support our daily reading program from Foundation to Year 2. Volunteering can be on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or even monthly basis. Whatever time you can spare will help our classes.

We are offering two sessions, but you only need to attend one session:

- Thursday 21st March at 2pm

- Friday 29th March at 9:15am

Registration to this course is never too late! Just send an email to ripponlea.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au and mention which session you would like to attend.

WORKING BEE: SUNDAY 24th MARCH @10AM

Calling all enthusiastic volunteers for our first Working Bee of the year. Working Bees involve families coming together to complete projects that enhance the environment in which our children can learn, play and grow, and which otherwise would have to be outsourced at great cost.

In addition to improvement projects, Working Bees also include regular tasks to keep the school tidy, such as painting, weeding, sweeping and raking back tan bark under playground equipment.

It’s a great opportunity for families and children to meet in a different social setting, as well as contributing to improvements and care of the school. Each Working Bee finishes with a BBQ, to thank our lovely volunteers!

So pack your gloves, brooms and tools and volunteer to help at our Working Bee! Whether it’s just one hour or more, RPS needs your help. Every bit counts!
