2019 Blackfriars Annual Appeal

Next week we will be launching the 2019 Blackfriars Annual Appeal.

The Blackfriars Annual Appeal is a fundraising program where each member of the wider school community is given the opportunity to support the ongoing work of our school. Traditionally, gifts to the Annual Appeal campaign are ‘once-off’ and, therefore, consist of a more modest monetary gift.

Last year, gifts to the Annual Appeal were targeted towards improvements in the Neill Gymnasium that included installation of a new scoreboard, floor refurbishment and updated Blackfriars spirit signage. Contributors to that appeal are acknowledged in the upcoming issue of The OPtimist, along with some images of the completed project works.

In 2019, our Annual Appeal is supporting both a capital improvement through the Blackfriars Foundation Capital Fund and our academic program through gifts to our Scholarships program.

Tax deductible contributions to the Building Fund contributions will be targeted towards the installation of a new large format screen in Frassati Hall, while gifts to the Scholarship Fund will assist talented students to access the new Blackfriars Ax Academy program.

During next week, you will receive a special newsletter with full details of the Annual Appeal including a link to our secure online appeal page where you will be able to make your contribution. If you would prefer to make a gift by cash, cheque or in person, you are most welcome to do so by contacting the Development Office on 8169 3966.

We look forward to your support for these worthwhile projects through the 2019 Blackfriars Annual Appeal.

Hosting an International Student

You will have read over the past few issues of the Blackfriars newsletter that we are hosting a number of international students during Term 3 for study experiences. Families from China, Korea, Vietnam and Japan are looking to Australia for education opportunities and life experiences for their sons that may not be available in their home country.

Part of that experience is to spend some time living with a host family here while they are studying. Families are paid for hosting these students and the upcoming tours are only 2-3 weeks.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact our International Students Program Officer, Angela Honner via email or during school hours on 8169 3900.
