Pedal Prix

Blackfriars Team Unleashed

The Blackfriars boys of team UNLEASHED produced a fantastic performance last Sunday 16 June, in the school’s first ever Australian International Pedal Prix race, finishing 24th out of 61 teams in their category, completing 139 laps of theVictoria Park circuit.  The placing was good enough to finish inside the top 50 of the total 161 school entries.

Starting the event in 96th position on the grid, the result could have been even better with the boys inside the top 20 just before lunchtime of the 6-hour race.  An unfortunate collision led a dropped chain that saw UNLEASHED off the track for around 6 laps.  But that’s Pedal Prix racing!

Congratulations to the boys involved for your mighty effort today and on your training over the past months.  Special thanks to our families for coming out to lend great support and to Mr Drewer for managing the team. Big shout out also to our great team supporters at 99 Bike (Prospect), Terry Howe Printing Services and Trump Trikes.

Bring on the next race at Victoria Park on Sunday 28 July, before the team heads to Murray Bridge on the weekend of 21-22 September for the annual 24-hour Pedal Prix event.
