Wanganui Park S.C. Hall of Fame

Last week we inducted the 15th member into the Hall of Fame in a full school assembly.  Matthew Guest was nominated for his achievements in sport (hockey), although in addition to this he is also forging a highly successful career in the field of medicine.  Matthew spoke with great modesty to the students and staff present, and his message of setting high goals, commitment, perseverance and resilience was a terrific one for all to hear.

We congratulate Matthew on his induction, and further details of Matthew’s achievements can be found later in this edition.

Shepparton Education Plan

A second phase of community consultation begins this week, and parents/guardians are encouraged to visit the Shepparton Education Plan website for further information (www.engage.vic.gov.au/SheppartonEducationPlan).

Parent Teacher Interviews

The parent teacher interviews will be held tonight (Thursday September 21st) from 5:00pm till 8:00 pm and tomorrow (Friday September 22nd) from 9:00am till 12:00 noon. Thursday 21st September is a normal school day concluding at 3.20pm. Friday is a student-free day. We encourage parents of students in Year 7 – 9 to bring their VMG Selections sheets with them for signing.

Interviews will be scheduled for a maximum of 5 minutes and parents will be able to make bookings through the XUNO parent portal.

Booking will open on Friday September 8th at 9:00am

We are inviting parents to complete a brief survey on your experience with our reporting system. Your response to questions on progress reports, SPA and online feedback will help us make informed decisions in support of your child’s education. The surveys can be accessed in the front foyer where a box will be stationed for your replies. Thank you in anticipation of your completion of these surveys.

Year 12 Preparations

Many of our staff members are working extremely hard in preparing our Year 12 students for their VCE Exams, the Year 12 Graduation events, and also for life after leaving Wanganui Park. An annual highlight of the year is the Year 12 Graduation Assembly at 9am on Thursday 26th October, and you are all very welcome to attend this event.

VMG Selections for Semester 1, 2018

The online selection process commenced for our Year 7, 8 and 9 students last Thursday, 14th September. There will be much counselling done in support of the selection of appropriate courses for next semester. Please feel free to contact any of your child’s teachers to discuss VMG subject selection. The due date is Friday 13th October.

Year 9 Subject Selection & Submission for 2018

Year 10 Formal

A large number of Year 10 students have commenced practising some dances in preparation for the Year 10 Formal to be held on Friday, 13th October at the Woolshed. Students have been supplied with permission forms that are due back to the Main Office by Friday, 15th September. The cost is $40 which covers food, drinks, music, awards and the venue. The evening commences at 7pm and concludes at 11pm. One important aspect of this event is that all Year 10 students are expected to attend school that day, at least up to lunchtime. We encourage all Year 10 students to attend this function as it is always a great night.

Arts & Technology Exhibition

Our annual Arts & Technology Exhibition takes place on Friday, 20th October (end of Week 2 next term) in the SLC. This is well worth a visit as the students do incredible work every year, and we are confident you will be most impressed with all that is on display.
