Prep Transition
Prep transition for 2017 is well underway, with parents meeting their child’s Prep teacher at the Information Evening on Tuesday. They received valuable information to help the start of their child’s first year at school to proceed as smoothly as possible.
This morning the parents were asked to leave their child once they were settled and were invited to the Parent’s Morning Tea in the Multi Purpose Room where a guest speaker made a short presentation. It is with pride that Boronia Heights Primary School is able to organise prep classes so early each year, to maximise the benefits for the kinder children transitioning to school
The children will have one more sessions in their classrooms during November- without their parents! This is a BIG step for many children, but we ensure that their parents are close by, enjoying a morning tea in the multi-purpose room.
A valuable part of our prep Transition program is the inclusion of a “Cuddle Bear”. This woolly bear is there for the children next year if they are feeling worried or upset and the bear really enjoys story-time in our prep classrooms! Our supplies are getting low, so if you are a knitter, or know someone who would be willing to knit for us, we would love to have your help at making these special bears. The simple pattern is included below and we are happy to reimburse anyone for wool purchased. If you think you can help, please talk to any of the prep teachers.

WE HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF FUN AT OSHC THIS WEEK.....
Congratulations to our new ‘Star of the Week’ James Maxwell. James is a Prep here at OSHC and has showed the staff and other children his fantastic initiative to get things done and help out wherever needed. James likes to play in the sandpit and on the playground with his friends. We love his kind nature and that he always makes us smile.
Last week our theme was Animals. We had lots of fun creating various types of animals out of the materials for arts and crafts. The children also participated in an animal alphabet list challenge where they had to try and name an animal for each letter. The staff thoroughly enjoyed their creative answers. Outside we also played some group games called “Move like a...” and the children had lots of fun pretending to be animals.
6th December is a curriculum day for B.H.P.S. Camp Australia has applied for all day care, for this to happen we need a booking of 18 students. You do not have to be a regular OSHC student to attend, all you need to do is create an account online and book in for the day. The roll will be open this week so get your booking in now! Holiday Club bookings are now open. We will be running from the 21st December until the 30th January. Please see attached flyer for more information.
We have made lots of positive changes at Boronia Heights OSHC and we would love for new and old families to come and see. The room is looking fresh and clean and we have lots of awesome new engaging activities for children of all ages. We have reduced our movie watching and spend our afternoons working on our social, emotional and physical skills.
